Vegan Hearts for Valentine’s Day. It ‘my first recipe in the vegan section, a tart that is, no milk, no butter, no eggs, and also ….. no sugar ….. but not without taste …..
ingredients for about 4 hearts (or a tart with a diameter of about 20 cm): 150 gr wholemeal flour (type 2), 50 gr of chopped hazelnuts, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, about 100 grams of apple juice, 2 tablespoons of malt rice, 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, 1 pinch of salt.
In a food processor, mix flour, baking powder, hazelnuts (pulverized, or re-chopped in a food processor grinder), rice malt and a pinch of salt, add the oil and mix. Add the apple juice flush continuing to knead until you get a soft dough. Wrap the dough in a tea towel and let rest in a cool place for at least half an hour. After this time, roll out the dough with a rolling pin by layering thin enough (about half a cm) and make shaped tarts with stencils (hearts in this case)
Fill the tart with jam (I used berry jam sugar free ….. homemade) and decorate with pieces of dough (I decorated with other hearts)
Bake at 180 degrees for about 15 min (in the case of small tarts e) or for 30 min in the case of a classic large tart. Allow to cool before tasting ….. You will be surprised!
